GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A driver has been cited for reckless driving after a crash involving three tractor-trailers on Interstate 95 in Greensville County in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

At 12:17 a.m. on June 18, Virginia State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on I-95 South in Greensville County.

Police said a tractor-trailer heading south on I-95 accidentally passed by the ramp onto Exit 4 and quickly braked. The other tractor-trailers heading south couldn’t avoid the stopped tractor-trailer and a chain reaction crash ensued involving all three tractor-trailers.

The impact of the crash ripped open the first vehicle and caused canned goods that were inside to spill onto the road.

Police said the driver of the first tractor-trailer, a man from Nashville, was cited for reckless driving. He wasn’t injured in the crash.

One of the other two drivers was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police continue to investigate.
