RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 18 in Virginia, polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. in Richmond.

Voters just need to bring their ID to the polls with them. If you don’t have a driver’s license, you’ll need to have some form of identification that has your address on it for a poll worker to verify.

In this Primary Election, one race voters will cast a ballot in is for U.S Senate. All the Senate candidates for Virginia are Republican, and there is no Democratic candidate because Sen. Tim Kaine is running unopposed.

Voters can do same-day registration at their polling place if they are not registered and will be given a provisional ballot.

Office of Elections spokesperson Selna Shi said voters should be in and out within 10 minutes as the ballot is short, and the office doesn’t expect a high voter turnout since the early voting numbers were low.

Shi said elections workers do not have the total number of early voters yet, as they are still processing ballots. Shi also said to double-check your polling place, as there are now eight new temporary voting precincts in Richmond.

“I would just keep in mind that, if you are one of the people or if you live in one of the precincts that the polling places have been changed, just make sure that you are going to the right precinct tomorrow,” Shi said.
