A 26-year-old man is dead after someone outside an Oceanside apartment shot through a bedroom window, striking the victim in the head early Tuesday.
The shooting happened about 1:10 a.m. at a complex on College Boulevard off Aztec Street, just north of Oceanside Boulevard, police spokesman Tom Bussey said.
The man was in the bedroom when someone on the sidewalk outside opened fire. A bullet pierced the window and struck the man, Bussey said. Others inside the apartment took shelter in a bathroom, he said.
Police arrived to find the victim unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital, where he died shortly before 8:50 a.m. Bussey said the victim did not live at the apartment but was staying there temporarily.
No arrests have been made.
