The gunfire erupted at a home on Don Pico Road Tuesday morning during a fight involving two men

An argument between two men escalated into a shooting that left one hospitalized and the other under arrest Tuesday in Spring Valley.

The gunfire erupted at a home on Don Pico Road, near Dictionary Hill County Preserve, about 8 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies arrived to find the shooter gone but the handgun left behind at the scene, Lt. Patrick Fox said.

Paramedics took the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m., deputies searching the area found the suspected assailant on Sweetwater Springs Boulevard, a few blocks north of the site of the shooting, the lieutenant said. The man surrendered to deputies.

The men are apparently acquainted, Fox said. The nature of the dispute was unclear.
