RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — We have our first named tropical system of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

Tropical Storm Alberto has formed in the western Gulf of Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is currently moving westward.

It is expected to make a landfall in Mexico early Thursday morning.

It will bring considerable flooding to southern portions of Texas and northern portions of Mexico in the coming hours and days.

Alberto may also cause mudslides in Mexico.
