HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Six juveniles have been arrested in connection to a string of alleged motor vehicle thefts, larcenies and acts of vandalism in the City of Hopewell.

According to a June 19 press release, the Hopewell Police Department has arrested and charged six unidentified juveniles with a collective total of 32 felonies and 33 misdemeanors in connection to a series of crimes between July 2023 and June of this year, including over 25 motor vehicle thefts, as of Wednesday.

The charges these juveniles face include grand and petit larceny, vandalism, possession of a firearm as a juvenile, possession of a stolen firearm and trespassing.

According to police, these arrests resulted from several search warrants issued during the investigation. Items such as identification cards, debit and credit cards, burglary tools and three stolen guns were found during the investigation

The department said these six arrests may not be the only ones made during this ongoing investigation.

“Although we have made several arrests, others are still committing acts of this nature,” the department said in the release. “We ask that everyone take the necessary precautions to secure their vehicles.”
