DEA Rocky Mountain Field Division agents and local and state law enforcement seized 570,000 fake fentanyl pills during three operations conducted over seven days earlier in June.
The busts account for 22% of all fentanyl pills seized in Colorado in 2023, according to the DEA. The agency seized a record 2.6 million fake fentanyl pills last year.
Fentanyl was involved in about 70% of fatal drug overdoses in the United States last year, federal officials said Thursday.
Colorado is on track to break the record number of pills seized in 2023, Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Pullen said in a statement.
