MINOT, ND (KXNET) — In just over a month, the trial for the man accused of killing his former roommate back in 2020, is set to begin.

Shawnee Krall has seen many twists and turns on his journey to the murder trial for Alice Quierolo.

Krall has been housed at the Ward County Jail since his arrest nearly four years ago. Back in 2023, the North Dakota Supreme Court ruled that Quirolo’s body would be inadmissible at trial.

That changed the trajectory of the case with Krall’s bond being lowered from $200,000 to $50,000. He had another bond hearing on Friday, where the judge decided his bond would stay the same.

A jury trial also began back in January but was canceled because the judge said too many jurors already knew of the inadmissible evidence.

Krall’s ninth lawyer in this process then filed a motion for a speedy trial, which is now set for July 29 in Dickinson.

According to the clerk’s office, there is still a November trial on the calendar, just in case something falls through with the original July date.

Krall also has a possession of a dangerous weapon charge that he’s facing separately, which happened while he was in jail, awaiting trial.

One last hearing is set for Krall before the Dickinson trial begins, which is a pretrial conference, set for July 1.
