RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A study by healthcare magazine Becker’s Hospital Review found that Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health is among the United States’ most “financially healthy” health systems.

According to the university, the publication reviewed 48 healthcare systems with “strong operational metrics and solid financial positions,” looking at metrics such as credit ratings.

The publication gave VCU Health an “Aa3” rating, which is says “reflects the Richmond, Va.-based system’s status as one of Virginia’s leading academic medical centers and essential role as its largest safety net provider, supporting excellent patient demand at high-acuity levels.”

 “This is a testament to our team members’ unending commitment to providing the highest level of care to each and every patient,” said  Marlon Levy, M.D., interim CEO of VCU Health and interim vice president of VCU Health Sciences. “Our credit is strong at the bank, and our reputation is strong in the community. We are eternally grateful for both.”
