HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two dogs died and a person was sent to the hospital after a house fire in Henrico County on Sunday.

At around 2:40 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, Henrico County Division of Fire crews were called to the 1500 block of Timbercrest Court for the report of a structure fire.

According to a spokesperson for Henrico Fire, crews arrived on scene within six minutes and quickly worked to put the fire out.

One occupant of the home was transported to the hospital to be treated for exposure to heat and smoke, and a firefighter was evaluated on scene for exposure to outside temperatures.

According to officials, two dogs inside the home died.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. According to the spokesperson, Henrico Fire will have rotating crews on scene due to the intense outdoor heat.
