PHILIPSBURG:— On Friday, June 21, 2024, at approximately noon, the Central Dispatch of the Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) received multiple reports of an armed robbery at a casino on Longwall Road adjacent to the traffic lights.
In response, multiple police patrol units and detective personnel were promptly dispatched to the scene. According to eyewitness accounts, two male suspects, attired entirely in black and wearing black helmets, arrived at the location on a scooter. The suspects, armed with firearms, entered the casino and proceeded to rob the cashier.
Upon completion of the robbery, the suspects fled in the direction of Fort Willem. Despite a thorough search of the surrounding area, the suspects have not yet been apprehended.
Furthermore, the KPSM will provide the casino with crime prevention guidance based on the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) to minimize the likelihood of future incidents.
The detectives from KPSM’s Special Unit Robberies are actively investigating this matter. We urge anyone with information about this robbery to contact the Special Unit Robberies as soon as possible.
