A Bismarck man is not going to trial after he pled guilty in Burleigh County District Court on Monday, June 24, to assaulting a woman back in February.

BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — A Bismarck man is not going to trial after he pled guilty in Burleigh County District Court on Monday, June 24, to assaulting a woman back in February.

Police arrested Brandon Clown after they say he threatened and attempted to rape a woman at a home along East Broadway Avenue in Bismarck on February 12th.

Brandon Clown’s trial was scheduled to start June 25th, but instead, he pled guilty to three of the five charges against him.

The charges of terrorizing and gross sexual imposition were dismissed. However, Clown pled guilty to assault, criminal trespass and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Judge James Hill accepted the guilty plea and sentenced Clown to five years in prison, with credit for time served.

He was also sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation and ordered to attend a domestic violence treatment program.
