RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — CNN Travel has put Richmond at the top of its list of the best smaller cities in the United States to visit in 2024.
CNN attributes Richmond’s place at the top of its list to the city’s many museums and festivals, as well as its variety of breweries, proximity to Virginia’s wine country and “diverse, chef-driven food scene.”
Richmond bested cities ranging in population from 50,000 to 225,000 for the top spot on CNN’s list. The top 10 are as follows:

Portland, Maine
San Luis Obispo, California
Flagstaff, Arizona
Macon, Georgia
