Madison Curbelo, a proud Latina singer/songwriter from Westfield, made a special stop in the Four Rivers community as part of their month long celebration of cultural heritage.

“I think having a young person from the Latinx community and so close to home our Puerto Rican community, and having her come talk to our students is a huge inspiration,” mentioned Four Rivers Spanish teacher, Elizabeth Rodriguez-Salas.

Four Rivers embraces this year’s theme, Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together as a way to inspire cultural and community engagement, promote diverse perspectives and learn about the Hispanic/Latinx community.

“I hope that students are more open to different cultures and learning about different people regardless of where they’re from where their parents are from where their grandparents are from so I just hope to inspire anyone to just be able to accept other people and also go for it themselves,” said Curbelo.
