PRESS RELEASE:

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has deployed machinery and personnel to assist with water supply needs in flood-affected areas of Chiang Rai.

DDPM’s operations team yesterday (Sep 13) began pumping raw water from the Provincial Waterworks Authority’s reservoir into sedimentation ponds for processing into tap water, ensuring residents have access to clean water.

A 10,000-liter water tanker was also dispatched from Mae Chan to support the Royal Kitchen initiative, run by the Friends in Need (of “PA”) Volunteers Foundation and the Thai Red Cross Society. The water will be used to prepare meals for flood victims at Chiang Rai Bus Terminal 2.

These efforts are part of an immediate campaign to support public utilities and provide essential services to communities impacted by ongoing floods in the region. The DDPM said it will continue to monitor the situation and provide relief as necessary.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official DDPM channels and seek assistance if needed via the department’s emergency hotline.
