NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — United Way of Greater Nashville is hosting a volunteer appreciation week to increase community support and to reward volunteers for their efforts.

From September 14-21, volunteers have the opportunity to win prizes for signing up for any slot through the end of the year on United Way’s volunteer calendar.

Over 170 local organizations are looking for workers, and there is sure to be something for every interest.

Metro Animal Care and Control is also looking for volunteers with a variety of skillsets. While there are openings to help at the shelter itself, MACC is also looking for help with grant writing, event organizing and creating promotional posters.

Kids between 12 and 15 can volunteer as long as a parent is present, and teens ages 16 and 17 only need a parent’s signature. To get involved with MACC, click here.


Organization highlights importance of mental health after Bon Jovi helps save woman from bridge

Another local organization is looking for volunteers to assist with swimming lessons. Nashville Dolphins provides free swim classes to help children and adults with disabilities learn to swim.
