Police have arrested two alleged street racers who drove recklessly along Nolensville Pike over the weekend.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Police have arrested two alleged street racers who drove recklessly along Nolensville Pike over the weekend.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, 27-year-old Alexis Palacios-Escalante, of Murfreesboro, and 21-year-old Savyon Dequantez Morton, of Nashville, were arrested for reckless driving on Nolensville Pike as part of the department’s Street Racer Initiative.

Authorities said Palacios-Escalante was driving a red Acura when he performed a burnout at an intersection into front of a traffic officer. He reportedly smelled of marijuana and failed a sobriety test.

The charges against him include reckless driving and driving under the influence. Police said the 27-year-old was later released on a $4,000 bond.

Meanwhile, police said Morton was observed speeding down Nolensville Pike in a Chrysler 300 with two passengers hanging out of the windows. Instead of stopping for officers, Morton reportedly fled from a traffic stop and reached speeds of up to 125 miles per hour.


JUNE 2024: 45th street racing arrest made

The 21-year-old eventually stopped in North Nashville where he “was safely taken into custody,” police said. Morton was charged with reckless driving and evading arrest. According to MNPD, he was later released on a $8,000 bond.

In a release, the police department said 47 people have been arrested for street racing in Nashville since March 2023.
