GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Students in Georgetown County will return to the classroom Tuesday morning.

The district canceled classes for Monday due to a tropical system off the South Carolina coast that was expected to bring heavy rain, gusty wind, and flooding to the area.

District officials say the decision was made out of an abundance of caution. School activities and athletic events were also canceled or postponed.

While the county saw some storm-related problems, the system had more of an impact on Horry County and North Carolina.

Georgetown County schools will return to normal operations Tuesday. An eLearning day is scheduled for Monday, October 7 to make up for canceled classes.
