The meeting of the Civil Service Commission ordered the suspension of the “Chief Justice” who sexually harassed a woman on a train after establishing a serious disciplinary investigation committee.
Today (16 Sept.) at the Ratchaburidirekrit Meeting Room, 3rd floor, Court of Justice Building, Ratchadamnoen Nai Road, Phra Nakhon District, Ms. Anoncha Chiwitsophon chaired the 24th/2024 Judicial Commission (JC) meeting. The meeting considered and approved the following important issues:
In the sixth topic, there was consideration of the suspension of one judicial official. The reporter reported that the suspension of a judge was the case of the Chief Justice of the Court who was accused of harassing a woman on a train. Previously, the Chief Justice was suspended and no consideration was given to allowing him to hold any position until the investigation was complete.
Since July 2, the President of the Supreme Court signed an order to transfer the accused Chief Justice to temporarily work as a Supreme Court Judge at the Office of the President of the Supreme Court, effective from July 8, 2024. After that, there was an investigation of the facts until the previous meeting of the Civil Service Commission. After the investigation, the Civil Service Commission considered the results of the investigation of the facts and resolved to set up a serious disciplinary investigation committee and proposed a suspension from duty. Until today’s meeting, there was a resolution to suspend the said Chief Justice after the serious disciplinary investigation committee was set up.
In terms of legal proceedings, it was reported that on July 10, a female victim who was attempted to be molested by a judge on a train filed a criminal complaint with the investigation officer of the Crime Suppression Division 4. The investigation officer questioned the victim and proposed the establishment of a committee to investigate and take action specifically on this case, as the accused is a high-ranking civil servant and the case is of public interest. Currently, the investigation officer is considering the case.
