NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A man accused in a deadly May 2022 shooting on the US 52 Connector was arrested Monday afternoon.

Kylil Amir Smith, 20, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals after he ran from a traffic stop, according to Harve Jacobs, a spokesman for the North Charleston Police Department.

Smith’s arrest stems from an incident that happened in the eastbound lanes of US 52 Connector where three people were found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were all taken to Trident Hospital for treatment; however, one of the three victims died.

The three individuals were in a Chevrolet Cruze. According to an incident report, a handgun was seen inside the vehicle, and spent rifle casings were found on one of the seats. Numerous other spent shell casings were found in the roadway.
