SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A woman has been arrested in connection with a deadly August 28 hit-and-run crash on Dorchester Road.

Officers with the Summerville Police Department responded to the crash near Parlor Drive after receiving reports that a vehicle struck a pedestrian during the early morning hours.

The vehicle left the scene before police arrived.

Officials say the pedestrian, identified as Clay Bucher, died from injuries he sustained in that crash.

An investigation into the hit-and-run determined a 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK350, driven at the time by Elizabeth Hartman, struck Bucher.

Hartman was arrested and charged with ‘hit and run’ and ‘duties of drivers involved in accident resulting in death.’

She is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center where she awaits a bond hearing.
