The National Water Resources Office warns risk areas to be on the lookout for flash floods, mudslides, and areas at risk of landslides during 19-25 September 2024.

It was reported that the Office of National Water Resources issued Announcement No. 16/2567 on monitoring flash floods and forest runoff, stating that the Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) has monitored weather forecasts and found that the depression in the upper South China Sea is likely to intensify into a tropical storm during 20-21 September 2024, moving to the coast of central Vietnam and gradually weakening.

Causing more rain and heavy to very heavy rain in the northern, northeastern, Bangkok and its vicinity, the eastern, and southern regions. In this regard, ONWR has assessed and analyzed the water situation based on the forecasted rainfall from the Meteorological Department and the Hydro-Informatics Institute (Public Organization) and the forecast of flood risk areas and mudslide risk areas in upstream areas from the Department of Water Resources and the Department of Mineral Resources. It was found that there are risk areas that need to be monitored during 19 – 25 September 2024 as follows:
