The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) responded to a reported burglary in progress near the 1400 block of Snell Avenue early Tuesday morning.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man is in custody after a search for a burglary suspect led officers to a “suspicious” person hiding in a neighbor’s vehicle in Bordeaux, police said.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) responded to a reported burglary in progress near the 1400 block of Snell Avenue early Tuesday morning.

The victim told officers she heard banging on the door. When she opened her bedroom door, she saw Darrell Pierce, 37, standing inside her home, according to Metro police

She told officers she closed and locked the door before calling for help. According to court documents, Pierce remained outside the door and said “if you don’t show your faces, I’ll start shooting.”

Pierce reportedly left the house through the back door. The victim stated the suspect cut himself on a piece of glass from the door, which was previously broken before the break-in, as he tried to leave. MNPD said the back door and frame were visibly damaged, and a bloody napkin was found in the home.

Shortly after speaking with the victim, police received a call about a “suspicious” man hiding in a truck bed one street over on Holland Lane.

Officers searched the area and found Pierce with a fresh cut on his arm.

While being arrested, Pierce claimed the victim had let him into her home and he had sustained the cut on his arm while trying to open the door. However, while officers were writing the report, he reportedly told them he “thought it was his house.”

Pierce was booked into the Metro jail on a $25,000 bond.
