DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Dorchester County deputies say they have arrested a man accused of bringing a knife onto school grounds at a sporting event.

46-year-old Dwight Decker of Summerville was arrested on Sept. 10 for bringing a knife to a sporting event at Ashley Ridge High School on Sept. 6.

Both the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and Dorchester School District Two stress that there is a zero-tolerance policy for weapons on DD2 grounds.

A security officer alerted The sheriff’s office to respond to the front gate of an Ashley Ridge football game the night of the incident.

The responding officer said he observed Decker being “loud and boisterous,” according to an incident report. Decker continued to be aggressive, with authorities described as “irate.”

During the incident, Decker told the responding officer he was allowed to have a knife on him because he was allegedly a former police officer.

Game security discovered the weapon after he went through a weapons detection system. After the system’s alarm went off, Decker then admitted he had a knife in his boot.

Decker was also placed on trespass from all DD2 properties.
