HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaii Island police have recovered the body of a male visitor who went missing after entering the waters of Boiling Pots on Tuesday afternoon, September 17, 2024.

On September 19, around 2:10 p.m., rescue teams from the Hawaii Fire Department found the body approximately 30 feet below the surface of one of the pools.

The victim was taken to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.


Another arrest made in Maui explosive device investigation

Authorities have begun a Coroner’s Inquest investigation and are planning an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The victim’s identity will be released once confirmed and next of kin have been notified.

Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section are continuing their inquiry into the incident.
