SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Several suspects were arrested in connection with robbing over a dozen Springfield businesses involving a firearm, police say.

According to a news release from Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, an official announcement is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the police headquarters. Walsh said several individuals were arrested who are believed to be involved in a string of 14 firearm-armed robberies of local businesses in the city.

The news conference is being held with Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence Akers and Mayor Domenic Sarno to announce the details of the arrests.
