Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, along with Deputy Minister of Interior Thirat Rattanachai, Minister of Social Development and Human Security Varawut Silpa-archa, and executives traveled to Chiang Mai Province to inspect and encourage the people and officials working to restore and help those affected by the disaster in Mae Ai Subdistrict Municipality, Mae Ai Subdistrict, Mae Ai District. Mr. Anutin joined the Big Cleaning activity with many people, volunteers, rescue workers, and various sectors. Mr. Anutin and his team also greeted people at their homes to listen to the problems that occurred and to encourage the victims. Mr. Anutin stated that today he traveled according to the Prime Minister’s order. He will visit Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai Provinces. We are in Chiang Mai Province now and have seen the damage that has occurred. We must urgently provide assistance to the people. The flood situation has improved, but many houses are still damaged in mud. We would like to thank the Chiang Mai Governor for mobilizing forces to resolve the situation quickly. As for the assistance, the government already has criteria. Last week, a committee was established to manage and administer the flood, storm, and mudslide situation. (Cos.) and set up an Operation Center for Flood, Storm and Landslide Relief (OCSL). The Prime Minister ordered the approval of compensation for each family and a budget will be approved to repair damaged homes and properties. The Prime Minister also approved a central budget to repair state utilities. The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives provided assistance according to the criteria. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior provided assistance for water and electricity bills in September, exempting only those in the disaster areas. He is confident that the assistance will be fast and effective. Mr. Anutin and his team traveled to Mueang and Mae Sai Districts, Chiang Rai Province, to inspect the rehabilitation of the area after the flood receded and to encourage the people and workers.
