The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team fell to two-time defending national champion and current No. 8 Texas 25-15, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19 in Austin on Friday.

Hawaii fell to 6-3, while Texas improved to 5-3.

The Rainbow Wahine avoided a sweep with a Set 2 victory, enduring a late 7-0 run by the Longhorns.

Caylen Alexander had a match-high 20 kills for UH, adding four blocks, three digs and an assist.

For Texas, Kamehameha alumna Devin Kahahawai had 12 kills on 21 swings, hitting .476 with two blocks. Meanwhile, fellow Kamehameha alumna Keonilei Akana had six digs.

Hawaii closes out its road trip against No. 20 Baylor at 2 p.m. HST on Saturday.
