WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Saturday begins the second weekend of the Big E, which is often one of the busiest times at the fair.
It was a record-breaking first week of the Big E, with last Saturday’s attendance being nearly 122,000 visitors. Now, as we begin what is historically the busiest weekend of the fair, those attending can expect even higher numbers.
Be mindful of crowds as you navigate the fairgrounds on Saturday. Understand that there will be lines, so be patient. It’s best to get there earlier, especially if you plan to purchase tickets at the gate. However, tickets are still available for purchase online, and buying ahead may help save some line time.
Traffic will be worse in the afternoon into the evening, and public parking is available at Gate 9 or residences along and off Memorial Ave. Of course, once you enter the gates, you’re in for quite the day as Saturday is all about the Green Mountain State, so head to the Vermont Building to celebrate Vermont Day with your favorite maple treats or some Ben and Jerry’s.
It’s going to be in the low 70s on Saturday, so dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes so you’re prepared to walk around and enjoy all the Big E has to offer.
