Hawaii looks for its second win of the season on Saturday.

After a disheartening win at Sam Houston, the University of Hawaii football team returns home for its second home contest of the year against an FCS team, this time taking on Northern Iowa.

Hawaii 22, Northern Iowa 7, Halftime

7:26: Northern Iowa can’t really get anything going and Hawaii enters halftime with a 22-7 lead. ‘Bows will receive the second half kickoff.

7:24: Hawaii looks to get a score before halftime but Schager takes a hit and is INTERCEPTED by Tucker Langenberg with nine seconds left at the UNI 36.

7:19: Hawaii forces a quick three-and-out and punt. Hawaii gets the ball back on its own 12 with 1:02 left in the second quarter. Rainbow Warriors have one timeouts.

7:16: Brayden Schager is INTERCEPTED by Robbie Peterson Jr., who takes it to the UNI 31 with 1:46 left in the second quarter,

7:10: Hawaii will begin at the 35 after the ensuing kickoff goes out of bounds.

7:08: TOUCHDOWN NORTHERN IOWA. The Panthers get on the board after manufacturing an eight-play, 72-yard touchdown drive ending with a 3-yard Aidan Dunne touchdown. Hawaii still leads 22-7 with 4:02 left in the second quarter.

6:57: TOUCHDOWN ‘Bows. Hawaii looks like an entirely different team today. Brayden Schager hits Nick Cenacle for a 20-yard touchdown. He’s now 15-16 with 213 yards and three touchdowns. ‘Bows lead 22-0 with 9:10 left in the second quarter.

6:49: Northern Iowa’s drive is stalled by an offensive pass interference call. There is a prolonged break for an injury timeout for Hawaii cornerback Cam Stone, perhaps the team’s top pro prospect. Northern Iowa punts to the Hawaii 20 with 12:44 left in the second quarter. ‘Bows up 15-0.

SECOND QUARTER

6:38: TOUCHDOWN RAINBOW WARRIORS. A 59-yard “Schager bomb” to Dekel Crowdus in stride puts Hawaii at the UNI 1. UH calls timeout with 1:49 left in the first quarter. After that, a false start puts Hawaii back five yards, but the Rainbow Warriors score again on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Schager to Pofele Ashlock. Schager is 10-for-10 with 140 yards and two touchdowns. Hawaii then goes for a surprise two-point conversion to Hunter Higham to go up 15-0 with 40 seconds left in the first quarter.

6:25: Northern Iowa gets a first down but can’t get anything else to materialize after an offensive pass interference call and the Panthers punt. Hawaii gets the ball back on its own 25 up 7-0 in the first quarter.

6:20: UNI to begin from its own 25 after a touchback on the ensuing kickoff.

6:18: TOUCHDOWN HAWAII. The Rainbow Warriors drive right down the field and cap it with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Brayden Schager to Jonah Panoke.

6:15: An opening three-and-out is negated by a penalty on the Hawaii defense. UNI is driving, but the Panthers FUMBLE and it’s recovered by Jamih Otis at the UH 31 with 10:51 left in the first quarter.

6:07: Ben Falck’s opening kick goes into the end zone for a touchback. Northern Iowa will start from its own 25.

6:05 p.m.: Northern Iowa wins the toss and elects to receive.

FIRST QUARTER

PREGAME: Hawaii will be without steady and reliable slot receiver Koali Nishigaya after he suffered a head injury against Sam Houston. Meanwhile, backup quarterback Micah Alejado was taking some reps at quarterback. Will that mean anything come gametime?
