A motorcyclist has died following a Saturday afternoon crash at an intersection in Murfreesboro, officials said.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A motorcyclist has died following a Saturday afternoon crash at an intersection in Murfreesboro, officials said.

The Murfreesboro Police Department took to social media to alert the public about the crash just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 stating, “Broad Street at Singer Road is closed due to serious injury crash involving an SUV and motorcycle.”

Authorities said the motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital and traffic was being rerouted to Florence Road as officers investigated the crash.

Just hours later, at 7:07 p.m., the police department announced that the motorcyclist had passed away from their injuries. Their identity has not been released to the public as of this writing.

MPD said a preliminary investigation indicates that “the driver of the SUV attempted to make a left turn onto Singer Road causing the motorcycle to crash into it.”

An investigation into the deadly crash is being conducted by the MPD’s Fatal Accident Crash Team, police said.

No other information was immediately released.
