GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Bond was denied Monday for a man accused of killing a 16-year-old at a Georgetown County convenience store.

Dae’mon Hykeim Sanders, 20, was arrested in connection with the deadly Sunday afternoon shooting at Plantersville Store on North Frasier Street.

Nataya Brown, 16, of Charlotte, was later identified as the victim.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said Sanders was denied bond during a hearing by a Georgetown County magistrate.

He remains at the Georgetown County Detention Center on charges including murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful carry of a firearm until he is due for a Circuit Court hearing on Nov. 7.

“Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is aware of and monitoring various defense claims within the Plantersville and social media communities. To date, the investigation has not uncovered any defense claims nor has it determined motive for the senseless murder of Nataya Brown.”

An investigation is ongoing.
