ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville fire crews responded to an early morning fire in Antioch that sparked while two people were asleep inside, sources said.

Crews were called around 2 a.m. Monday morning to a home near the 5000 block of Smith Springs Parkway.

Two people were reportedly inside asleep when one smelled something burning. They looked outside to find the back of the house on fire, sources said. Both people who were inside the home at the time escaped without injuries.

Officials confirmed the fire started in the back of the home and spread inside. The roof sustained extreme fire damage and eventually collapsed.

Despite crews’ efforts, the home is being called “a total loss.” Investigating officials told News 2 they do not believe the fire has suspicious origins.
