Police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound on Rencelau Street in Springfield. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Police are investigating after a man was shot on Rencelau Street in Springfield on Sunday.

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, officers were called to the 0-100 block of Rencelau Street around 10:15 p.m. for a ShotSpotter activation. When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds and damage to a vehicle.

The man was taken to Baystate Medical Center for his injuries. The Springfield Police Department’s Detective Bureau is investigating the shooting.
