Tyler Waller, 30, was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor after officers found child sexual abuse material on his phone during a shooting investigation.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A shooting investigation in Davidson County took an unexpected turn when officers discovered child pornography on one of the shooting victim’s phones.

Tyler Waller, 30, was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor after officers found child sexual abuse material on his phone during a shooting investigation.

On Friday, Sept. 20, Metro Nashville Police Department officers responded to a double shooting in which one person was killed and Waller was injured. Waller had been shot during the incident.

During the investigation, officers with the MNPD Homicide Unit had a warrant that gave them access to certain contents of Waller’s phone, which is where they discovered the images.

The case was handed over to MNPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, which found more than 50 images and video files of child sexual abuse material.

Waller was released from Metro jail on Sept. 23.
