“Warawut” Ministry of Social Development and Human Security helps vulnerable groups affected by natural disasters in the North and Northeast. Meanwhile, the Public Health Ministry has approved a 3-month debt repayment suspension for members in 8 provinces damaged by Yagi.

Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, revealed that from the Operation Center of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security reporting on assistance to vulnerable groups from agencies under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security during the disaster situation from August 15 to September 20, 2024, it was found that there were 30 provinces, 89 districts, 357 sub-districts, 1,923 villages, and 71,234 households affected by the disaster situation. It was found that there were 48,110 households or 56,110 vulnerable people affected by the disaster situation, divided into 7,400 children, 5,391 youths, 9,912 disabled people, 29,092 elderly people, and 5,168 low-income people. The Ministry has provided assistance to 13,157 vulnerable people, including various forms of financial assistance to 5,337 families, 4,592 consultations on welfare rights, 50 home repairs and improvements, and 6 orphans, as well as the Ministry’s donation center. Providing essential consumer goods to disaster victims with cooperation from the private sector, such as diapers for the elderly, boxed meals, drinking water, medicine, physical equipment for the disabled, consumer goods, and specific items for the target group, such as canes, disposable diapers, mobile toilets, and setting up 21 kitchens in collaboration with the provinces of Nan, Phrae, Phayao, Sukhothai, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has also opened up areas of its units, with the MSDHS team in 16 provinces, to serve as temporary shelters for disaster victims, totaling 42 locations: 22 locations in 8 provinces in the North and 20 locations in 8 provinces in the Northeast. In addition, on September 20, the Community Organizations Development Institute (Public Organization) or PDC, an agency under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, held its 10/2567 PDC committee meeting and approved the suspension of principal and interest payments for 3 months for organizations (cooperatives under the Secure Housing Project) affected by the flood. Members’ houses were damaged by the influence of Typhoon Yangi, the continuous rain situation in August 2024, and the flood affected areas, totaling 29 organizations, 6,434 households in 8 provinces: Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, Loei, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani. When the NLA announces next week, affected organizations can submit their requests immediately. They can request a stay of no more than 3 months in this round from the date they wish to request a stay.
