A California courthouse was closed after authorities said an explosion caused injuries to at least two people.
Authorities are investigating an explosion at Santa Maria Superior Court in California that caused injuries.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said a suspect, an adult male, was detained shortly after the explosion Wednesday morning.
A witness told Scripps News California’s Central Coast that an individual walked into the courthouse and threw a backpack at security just before the explosion.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, there were two reports of non-life-threatening injuries.
City Hall was locked down as a precautionary measure and will be closed for the remainder of the day.
Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Office said in a message posted to social media that the California Office of Emergency Services was monitoring the situation and multiple agencies were involved including the FBI.
