Disabled people in Lamphun are delighted to receive 10,000 baht from the economic stimulus program. They intend to use it to buy necessities to survive and pay off debts to the store that provided the items.

On September 25, 2024, Mr. Santithorn Yimlamai, Governor of Lamphun Province, revealed that today he traveled to the area to monitor the situation of the Kwang River overflowing into people’s homes and visited the disabled and vulnerable groups affected by the flood. From the previous night, there was continuous heavy rain in the area, causing the Kwang River to rise and flood the houses of the people until they could not live there. Therefore, the officials evacuated the affected people to temporary shelters to provide care and assistance as soon as possible.

“While visiting to give encouragement and provide assistance, I had the opportunity to talk to a disabled person who brought me 10,000 baht transferred from the government’s economic stimulus program. He expressed his great joy at being able to receive the Digital Wallet money this time. This money has great physical and emotional value because it is a life-saving measure from using the money to buy necessities, blankets, and milk to sustain their lives. Another portion will be used to pay off debts owed to the village shop. Previously, he had bought goods from the shop for consumption in advance and did not have the money to pay for the goods. The remaining amount will be saved for future expenses,” said Mr. Santithorn.

Mr. Santithorn continued that today is a good story that he has heard from the disabled and vulnerable people who need help from the government and the government’s economic stimulus project through the payment of 10,000 baht in digital wallets, which is like a “gate of hope” for the people to have a place to turn to, to have funds to support them in buying food and other necessities, as well as to provide initial assistance to the people affected by the floods, who will be able to use this money to take care of their own well-being and those around them during this crisis.

Mr. Santithorn added that the government’s 10,000 baht top-up project via Digital Wallet to stimulate the economy is a project that focuses on stimulating the economy by promoting money circulation in the area, covering 878 districts, 76 provinces nationwide, to help alleviate the cost of living, which will result in improving the quality of life for people who need assistance. It will also promote economic strength for the group of people and communities, enable them to be self-reliant, create and increase career opportunities for people, including the business sector, strengthen the stability and security of the financial institution system, and lay the foundation for a digital government structure that will promote people to transact with the government through digital channels in the future.

If any disabled and vulnerable people have not yet received the digital wallet, are not eligible or cannot register for the rights, or have any problems receiving the money, you can inquire at the Government Information Service Center for the People, telephone number 1111, press 1 (24 hours service), or call the Damrongtham Center hotline 1567, or ask the village headman, village headman, or district officer for advice on how to proceed.
