A young Thai man has allegedly been taken hostage by a call centre scam gang, demanding a ransom of 500,000 baht from his family. If the ransom is not paid within one to two days, the teenager’s life may be in danger.
The incident was brought to light on social media yesterday, September 26, when Jenny Jenjura posted a plea for help. According to Jenny, her brother Theeraphat had claimed to have secured a scholarship to study in Japan and requested 500,000 baht from the family. Shortly afterwards, he disappeared, and the family received threatening messages demanding a ransom.
“Please help share this. Theeraphat’s family is in great distress and doesn’t know what’s happening. He told us he got a scholarship to study in Japan and asked for 500,000 baht. After he left, we received threatening messages.”
