AIEA, Hawaii (KHON2) — Honolulu police launched a hit-and-run investigation in Aiea that left one man in critical condition.

Officials were called to the scene on Friday shortly after 10 a.m. near the area of Kaamilo Street and Kalawaina Place.


Hawaii nonprofits struggle to fundraise amid economic strain, rising community need

According to HPD, the 75-year-old male was performing yard work while standing in the roadway of a private residence.

An unidentified vehicle struck the man and fled the scene westbound on Kaamilo Street. He was later identified and located.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident and transported the man to a local hospital in serious condition.

Officials said he was later downgraded to critical condition.
