NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Nashville man has found himself back behind bars for a second time in a month after he fled from a traffic stop in North Nashville just weeks after he was caught driving a stolen vehicle, police said.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), 22-year-old Cedric Watkins was out on a $91,000 bond from an arrest that occurred earlier this month.

Authorities said the first incident happened on Sept. 14, where Watkins was found driving a Dodge Ram that was stolen out of Murfreesboro on Nolensville Pike. He reportedly fled from the traffic stop, which led him to lose control of the Ram, leave the roadway and hit a natural gas line.

The gas line was ripped out of the ground, causing gas to spew in the air, police said. Watkins was arrested for that incident and charged with theft, evading arrest, reckless endangerment and vandalism among other charges.

According to detectives, the second incident happened on Monday, Sept. 30, after a Ford Explorer fled from a traffic stop in North Nashville. Watkins, alongside two other occupants, reportedly fled from the Explorer and ran in an alleyway between 32nd and 33rd Avenue North.
