COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The former Grandma’s Pies building at 1273 Central Avenue in Colonie has been demolished. A majority of the demolition took place on Tuesday.
Grandma’s Pies and Restaurant first opened in 1976 and permanently closed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The building was demolished to make way for a new Stewart’s Shops location.
Stewart’s submitted plans to build a new shop there to the Town of Colonie Planning Board back in February 2023. Those plans were officially approved by the Board in a September 24 meeting.
In total, the site is about 2.41 acres and the new building would be 3,975 square feet. The new store would have 12 gas pumps, 15 employees, 50 parking spaces, and be open from 4 a.m. to midnight each day.
