LEVERETT, Mass. (WWLP) – Better Together Dog Rescue is seeking a loving home for Gia, a 2-year-old Australian Kelpie mix who has been in their care since July.

Despite her friendly nature and impressive intelligence, Gia has received little interest from potential adopters. Gia’s journey began when she was abandoned at a New York City shelter, but her story didn’t end there.

The shelter contacted her original rescue partners in Tennessee, who reached out to Better Together Dog Rescue after discovering their information on Gia’s microchip. Determined to give her the future she deserves, one of Better Together’s volunteers brought Gia to Leverett, where she has been awaiting her forever home.

Described as a high-energy dog with a sharp mind, Gia thrives in active environments where she can be challenged and trained. While she gets along with other dogs, her herding instincts can make her a bit bossy, so a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs is required. Gia would also be happy as the only dog in a quiet home.

Though energetic, Gia is well-mannered in the house, fully housetrained, and non-destructive. Better Together Dog Rescue hopes to find her a foster or adoptive home with someone who shares a passion for working with driven dogs.
