How to avoid job scams

According to Cameron Nakashima of the BBB, since the beginning of the year, Hawaii residents have reported over $86,000 in losses to employment scams. An additional $73,000 was attempted but not completed.

Nakashima says one of the best ways to keep your personal information safe is to make sure you are dealing with a legitimate company with a solid reputation. Check the website URL, and look up the company on sites like Google, Glass Door, and the Better Business Bureau website BBB.org to vet legitimacy and learn about the business’s reputation.
