Following his alleged announcement, officials said the 14-year-old was charged in Juvenile Court with making a threat of mass violence.

Since the beginning of the school year, several districts across Middle Tennessee have received reports of students making threats and false threats.

Late last month, an 11th grader at Whites Creek High School was arrested following a similar incident in which investigators said he told school administrators he would “blow the school up.”

The superintendent of Metro Nashville Public Schools, Dr. Adrienne Battle, and 14 other superintendents recently signed a joint statement encouraging students, staff and families to speak up amid what they called a “notable increase in reported threats to school safety.”
