SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The MassMutual Center in Springfield kicked off the Thunderbirds’ unofficial season Wednesday night with a sneak peek at the new food options.

Springfield Thunderbird’s preseason games begin

Many came out for the MassMutual Center’s first-ever MassMutual “Taste of the Arena.” People got to try food and beverage samples from both returning and new vendors, who you’ll find during all Thunderbirds home games.

Some of the most popular food staples like sausages, tacos, wings, and more are back. And recently added are new frozen margaritas at the Casa Bar, Crumbl Cookies, and smoothies from Springfield’s own Juguitos.

22News spoke to the General Manager of OVG Hospitality about the impact food services can have on fan experiences.

“We try to make it a destination, it’s not just a hockey game it’s a place to come with your family and actually spend the evening,” said Chris Hayes. “We like to offer more than just concession fair. So having these subcontractors and vendors join us as partners has really been a nice addition.”

MassMutual Center has also announced it’s bringing back the NWCA Regionals after March’s success.
