Opinion: Even small initiatives, like monthly shows in coffee shops, can bring people together and support artistsSurrey is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in B.C., and is expected to outgrow the population of Vancouver. Despite this fact, there is currently a lack of music-based arts activities and performance spaces in the city. If someone from Surrey wants to engage with music, they often have to travel to places such as Vancouver, Burnaby or New Westminster. This involves commuting either by transit or driving, which can make going to shows a huge investment of time and money.
