‘Survivor-centric response’: Tennessee prepares for long haul recovery from Helene floodwaters

The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed 11 deaths in the following counties, according to TEMA’s report from Wednesday, Oct. 2:

Four in Unicoi County

Two in Cocke County

Two in Washington County

One in Greene County

One in Knox County

One in Johnson County

Several county health departments have been closed due to power outages, water outages and weather-related damage.

TEMA also said 23 people are still actively missing.

Greene County: Four

Washington County: Three

Knox County: Three

Sullivan County: Two

Johnson County: Two

Carter County: One

Hawkins County: One
