LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Friday! We have fantastic conditions in the forecast today through the weekend. Afternoon highs will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s today under mostly sunny skies, a bit warmer than we reached on Thursday. There is a very small chance that the mountains of far southeastern Kentucky will fire up a few isolated showers, but the vast majority of us will remain mostly sunny. Saturday will be a couple degrees cooler than Friday thanks to a weak frontal boundary sliding through the region.
Overall, the opening weekend of the Fall Meet at Keeneland looks superb. Your Friday will be seasonably warm with mostly sunny skies. Saturday is a “Go Day” with afternoon highs peaking right around 80 with mostly sunny skies. Sunday will likely be the warmest day of the weekend, with temperatures climbing into the low-to-possibly mid-80s in most locations.
This is ahead of a cold front that will be moving through Sunday night that will usher in cooler conditions next week. This front will also fire up a few breezy showers Sunday evening into early Monday morning.
You can expect chilly mornings and pleasant afternoon conditions all next week behind that cold front. Monday morning will start in the upper 40s and low 50s, followed by mornings in the mid-40s for the middle of the week. Afternoon highs will be slightly below average into the upper 60s for most of the week as well. It’s also going to be a very dry week, with no rain in the forecast outside of a quick shower Sunday night.
Thankfully we saw a wetter than normal end to the month of September, because last month started very dry. October looks to be starting the same way, leading to a possible return of drought conditions.
