The Metro Nashville Police Department is searching for the driver of a vehicle who reportedly struck a mother and child in the bike lane of Nolensville Pike over the weekend.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department is searching for the driver of a vehicle who reportedly struck a mother and child in the bike lane of Nolensville Pike over the weekend.

Saturday evening, a 10-year-old girl, accompanied by her 28-year-old mother, was riding an electric scooter headed north in the southbound bike lane of Nolensville Pike. Officials said a red Nissan traveling at a high speed entered the bike lane and struck the pair.

The car did not stop and continued down Nolensville Pike.

The child was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where she was determined to have critical injuries. The 28-year-old was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Saturday, MNPD released details of the vehicle they believe to be involved. The red Nissan reportedly has front-end damage, a broken headlight and a temporary tag.
